About
The Greenpoint Cat Club meets once a month so people interested in learning more about what they can do for the stray cat population in Greenpoint. We connect people to information, resources and one another. We accept cat food donations which then are used to help feed the cats in the various colonies as needed. Greenpoint Cat Club is a forum for people to talk and share their knowledge. Many people have come to learn about TNR and then have become TNR certified.
Cats living along the waterfront are under constant threat because of rapid development along the East River. The cats, most of whom were abandoned when people moved, have found the the waterfront a viable place to live. Currently (as of March 2017) there are a number of large and small cat colonies that have structures built for the cats & serve as feeding locations. In the past year however, several colonies have been displaced or outright destroyed by construction workers. By sharing information and resources our group seeks to minimize the stress the cats are under and connect volunteers with tasks to help the cats.
